Hôtel Lutetia

The famous Hôtel Lutetia, 45 Boulevard Raspail, 75006 will close today for a three-year renovation. This historic hotel founded by the Bon Marché department store was built in 1910 in an Art Deco style. A number of famous guests have stayed at the hotel including Pablo Picasso, Charles de Gaulle, Peggy Guggenheim and Josephine Baker. The remodeled hotel is expected to be a marriage of Art Deco with contemporary design.

I am excited to see the hotel when it is finished in 2017. But in the meantime I am eagerly awaiting the auction (as reported here) of the expected 3,000 pieces of furniture, 8,000 bottles of wine and spirits, and many signed artworks. The auction will take place from May 19-25, but the public will be able to view the items from May 15-18. The auction catalog is supposed to be available in mid-April. Although I won't be able to make it to the auction, I am hoping the catalog will be available online. I would love to see some of the items that will be for sale. Wouldn't you?
