Make sure you give yourself a couple hours when you visit the incredible Musée des Arts et Métiers, 60 rue Réaumur, 75003. This museum of technological innovation was founded in 1794 and is housed in the beautiful Abbey of Saint-Martin-des-Champs. The museum has over 2,400 inventions based on seven themes: scientific instruments, materials, construction, communication, mechanics and transport. The museum has a number of exhibits with information in English as well as a few geared at school-age kids.
I am not sure about your thoughts on inventions, but to me it is exciting to see the creative endeavors of others. I definitely walked away from the museum feeling inspired. And I hate to admit it, but I also found myself wishing I could take a few of the exhibit pieces home with me to use as home decor. Many of the pieces were beautifully designed (and functional) as you can see in the photos below.
